Repair or Replace?
Most people put off roof repairs because they’re worried about having to replace the whole thing. And while we will tell you upfront if a replacement is the better option, there’s no pressure to commit when we give you a free estimate.
If a roof is only 10 or 12 years old and is missing a few shingles, a repair will do and we won’t tell you otherwise. But if it’s over the 20 year mark and has problems all over, a replacement is the safer choice. We won’t give you any sort of high pressure sales pitch, just an honest conversation about the best path forward.
Roof Repair in Waukesha
A lot of roofing problems in Waukesha come from our midwest winters. You’ve got ice dams pushing water back up under the shingles along the edge of the roof while hail and wind can knock shingles loose or crack them, plus flashing around chimneys and skylights and vents wears out over time no matter what. Give us a call if you notice any of these:
- Missing shingles after a big storm
- Water spots on the ceiling
- Leaking around your chimney
- Cracked vent boots
- Gutters filled with shingle granules
Understand that when you see a stain on the ceiling, that isn’t necessarily where the water got in. We’ll track it back to the source so you don’t have to call for help again in a year or two.
Getting a New Roof in Waukesha
When the time comes for a roof replacement we’ll take the whole thing off, all the way down to the boards. That’s the best way to see what shape things are in beneath the surface. If there’s anything soft or rotted we’ll go ahead and replace that too. We also install ice and water shields along the edges and in the valleys plus a new underlayment, flashing and vents.
We also handle the permits with the city so that’s one less thing you need to worry about. Most homeowners here go with architectural shingles and you can see more about those options on our Waukesha asphalt roofing page.
What Happens on Install Day
A new roof in Waukesha usually takes around 1-2 days of work to fully install. The real timeline depends on things like the size of your home and steepness of the roof. When we work, our crew puts down tarps to protect landscaping and keeps a dumpster nearby for all of the old shingles. We do cleanup at the end of each workday to make sure your yard is safe, and wrap everything up with a final walkthrough so you can see the finished roof and ask any additional questions.
