Replacing Your Roof With Semper Fi

Most homeowners only go through a roof replacement once or maybe twice in the whole time they own their house so it’s not something you’ve got a lot of practice with. That’s usually why the first question we get is how do you even know it’s time, and the second one is how much it’s going to cost. We’ll get into both of those but the short version is we come out and look at it and tell you what we see.

The company goes back more than 20 years to a couple of Marines with a truck and a ladder and a lot of the way we work still comes from them. Every new roof we put on has a lifetime workmanship warranty on it and the estimate is free whether you go with us or not. Get in touch online to have us come by.

How Old Is Too Old

Age is part of it but it’s not the whole story because we’ve seen 15 year old roofs that are shot and 25 year old ones that still have a few good years in them. What we’re really looking at is how the shingles are holding up. When they start curling at the corners and the gravel looking granules are washing off into your gutters then the shingles are wearing thin and it’s going to keep getting worse from there.

You may also be dealing with a leak that won’t go away and get a spot fixed only for another to appear later on. Eventually that’ll cost you more money than simply replacing the entire roof itself. But if your roof does have some life left in it, we’ll always go with a roof repair to save you the money instead of pitching you a roof replacement you don’t actually need.

Signs You Can Check Yourself

As a homeowner you probably want to stay proactive about things, and before you call us for your free estimate there are a few items you can check on your own.

  • Daylight coming in through the attic boards
  • A sagging roofline anywhere around the house
  • Shingles missing after heavy wind or rain
  • Stains or water spots on the ceiling inside
  • Moss or dark streaks anywhere on the roof

If you notice or even suspect any of these, your best bet is to give us a call. Estimates are always free and we’ll show you photos of what we find along with our recommendations.

What Happens When We Come Out

When we get there we’ll walk the roof and take photos of anything worth your attention. Then we’ll explain what we found and give you solutions in a written quote with no pressure to commit. You’ll have time to think it over and make a decision before any work begins.

That’s also when you get to look at shingle colors. We bring samples with us since it’s a lot easier to pick one when you can hold it up next to your siding, and most of our customers end up going with asphalt shingles in some shade of gray or brown. There are more options than most people expect though so it’s worth taking a few minutes with it.

Why We Tear Off the Old Roof

A lot of roofers will put a new one in over the existing shingles, and while that may sound like an extra layer of protection, it’s actually cutting corners. Putting a new roof over the old one means hiding whatever damage lies beneath it. By taking the whole thing off we can see if any boards need replacing due to rot or any other damage. It’s one of many ways we go the extra mile so you can get the most out of your investment.

The Day of Your Install

Most homes can get a new roof installed in 1-2 days, depending on size and the number of valleys. We’ll lay down tarps to protect your landscaping and do a daily cleanup so your yard isn’t totally out of commission. At the end we’ll do a final walkthrough and let you know exactly what we did and how to care for your new roof.

Paying for Your New Roof

Nobody really plans for a new roof so the cost can feel like a lot to take on all at once. If a storm did the damage your insurance might pick up a good part of it and we’ll get photos and notes together for your adjuster, which you can read about on our storm damage repair page. And if it’s just an old roof that’s worn out we have financing so you’re not stuck putting it off another winter.

Roof Replacement FAQs

Will my house be a mess during the replacement?

There’s going to be noise and some activity in the yard for a day or two but our crew covers up your landscaping before tearing anything off and cleans up every day before they leave.

How long is the warranty on my new roof?

Our workmanship warranty is good for life, plus the shingle company puts its own warranty on the shingles. We’ll go over both with you before any work starts.

Can I get an estimate on a weekend?

Yes we have weekend availability for estimates since a lot of people can’t take time off during the week to meet with us.
